Elizabeth Liebman is an art historian (PhD University of Chicago and Getty Fellow), following a career in scientific illustration at museums both local and international. Her academic interests and teaching focus on representations of nature and technology in early modern visual culture and performance. Present research pursues the history of sound reproduction in eighteenth-century fine and mechanical arts. She has published articles on motion and emotion in animal representation and bicycles and ice-skating in the choreography of Catherine Littlefield. She is a committed supporter of the performance community in Chicago and a founding board member of the Chicago Dance History Project.
